Mainframe z/OS Systems & Operations Engineer (H/F)

The Senior Mainframe z/OS Systems & Operations Engineer manages, maintains, and optimizes mainframe infrastructure and production workflows. This role ensures the high availability, security, and smooth execution of batch jobs and system operations across enterprise z/OS environments. - Manage and maintain z/OS mainframe system environments, ensuring high availability, system performance, and operational continuity. - Design, configure, and optimize batch production scheduling and automated workflows using Control-M. - Monitor mainframe production jobs, diagnose operational incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective action plans. - Automate operational tasks, system routines, and deployment processes across mainframe systems. - Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure, security, and application teams to support mainframe integrations, upgrades, and system migrations. - Ensure compliance with operational SLAs, disaster recovery protocols, and enterprise security standards.

Education & Experience: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent IT qualifications. - Minimum 2 years of proven hands-on experience (Mid to Senior level) in z/OS mainframe infrastructure management and operations. Technical Skills & Tools: - Operating Systems & Core Mainframe: IBM z/OS, JCL (Job Control Language), TSO/ISPF, VSAM, and SDS. - Production Scheduling & Operations: Control-M for z/OS (job design, scheduling, administration, and troubleshooting). - Scripting & Automation: REXX, CLIST, or Unix System Services (USS) scripting. - Mainframe Subsystems & Utilities: Knowledge of CICS, DB2, RACF, or IBM Utilities (DFDSS, IDCAMS, IEBGENER). - Incident & Production Management: ITIL framework, incident resolution, change management, and problem management practices. Soft Skills: - Strong analytical mind, rigor, and meticulous attention to detail in high-criticality environments. - Excellent problem-solving skills and calm pressure handling during production incidents. - High level of autonomy, proactive ownership, and strong teamwork capabilities. French: Native or Fluent (Required for daily team collaboration and operational communications). English: Professional / Working proficiency (for technical documentation and vendor support).
